Has fostering crossed your mind?
There’s no easy way to tell if someone is the right fit for fostering. Whether they’re young or old, black or white, straight or gay foster carers are all different and that’s the way it should be. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds
The thing that foster carers share however is a caring and nurturing attitude and a desire to help vulnerable children through life’s ups and downs.
Whether fostering has just crossed your mind, or you see it as your life’s ambition, it can be hard to know if you’re up for the challenge. Lots of people are put off fostering by misconceptions about how their circumstances or personality could affect their ability to foster.
We want to change those perceptions and expand the number of carers able to offer a loving and safe home environment to a child.
We hope that the information on this website will prove useful in helping you to decide whether to begin your fostering journey. Right now, hundreds of children and young people across Ireland are in need of a safe and nurturing home; could you offer that to a child?
